Torii Supports Design System Transformation at Transurban
Torii partnered with Transurban on a multi-year initiative to replatform the Linkt responsive web portal and launch a sustainable, scalable design system. By embedding a senior product designer for over two years, we helped shape a unified experience across a sprawling digital ecosystem, significantly improving usability, team efficiency, and design consistency.

What We Delivered
Design System from Concept to Reality
Transurban needed a robust design system to bring consistency, clarity, and speed to its digital experience. Torii played a critical role in the conceptualisation and development of the Design System, working from the ground up to define components, styles, and interaction patterns.
With 190 components, 1200+ variants, and over 2000 pages designed, the efforts quickly became the single source of truth for design across Linkt. The system not only accelerated UI design and development (through productionised components) but also improved predictability and ultimately customer satisfaction.
A Streamlined Payments Experience
Prior to the redesign, it took customers an average of 37 minutes to complete a payment. Through the implementation of the uplifted components and system, this time was reduced by 57 percent. By improving the clarity and consistency of interactions, we were able to reduce user frustration and support faster, more successful transactions.
Consistency at Scale
Before the new system, experience quality varied widely across the Linkt ecosystem. Torii's embedded designer worked closely with product and engineering to ensure alignment on system usage, onboard teams to the new workflows, and foster adoption across business units. This helped ensure long-term adoption and scalability of the system.
Broader Design System Impact
Torii’s experience in design systems extended beyond Transurban. Our practitioners have also led the design system work for Coles Liquor and helped define commentary and patterns for NAB’s new enterprise system. This broader experience allows us to bring best-practice guidance and real-world implementation insights.
